Top Picks for Toy Storage: Ikea's Popular Units

Top Toy Storage from Ikea

Discover the top picks for toy storage from Ikea's popular units, perfect for keeping your child's playroom organized and clutter-free.

I am a huge fan of Ikea products. Especially their storage. I am very lucky and have an Ikea only 5 minutes from my house!

I use their products all over our house and in my listing pictures for my online stores. When it comes to my playroom labels sales, I would say 95% of my customers use Ikea product for their toys. The most popular would be the Trofast units. The second most popular is the Kallax shelf.

I have personally used both. And love both! But if I had to recommend only one, the Trofast would be my choice for toys.

The Versatile Trofast Units

What I love about the Trofast is how versatile it is. After years of making labels for toys, I consider myself an expert. Let me break down the Trofast units for you.

There is 4 different sized plastic bins.

Ikea has 7 different Trofast units available. Which is amazing when working with small or shared spaces.

Every unit, but one, comes with 3 colours to choice from.

The SHORT unit is the most popular with my toy label customers.

The TALL unit. There is one unit just like this one that is taller, but only comes in white.

The STAIR unit. There is no front, or back the units, so you can place it with the stairs going down right or left.

Ikea’s newest unit, the TINY unit.

The WALL unit. Most of my customers use this one for Arts & Crafts.

The TINY WALL unit. Another new one from Ikea.

Creative Ikea Playrooms

I have some pretty amazing customers. Slide through the photos below to see playrooms from my customers all using the Trofast units.

Sleek and Stylish Kallax Shelf for Toy Storage

The Kallax unit from Ikea is a real space saver and also multifunctional. You can use it as a TV stand, a bench, sofa table, etc. It is also more pleasing to the eye if your toys are in your main living space.

The Kallax only has one size of bin that is marketed to fit the unit. If you have small toys, I find that the large bins are not very functional. What I did to solve this issue was use smaller bins with lids, inside of the Drona bins. I have used the Rykta bins to store my daughters mini doll accessories within the large bin. The other one I love and has been around since I was a child is the Glis box. This one is perfect for sorting doll accessories.

There is a lot of after market bins that fit the Kallax. I will add a disclaimer that my toy labels only work on the Drona bins and Skubb bins when it comes to the fabric style bins.
